SoyCrete: Concrete Sans Acid

I’ve dedicated several earlier posts to the wonders of concrete stain. Up until now, however, I wasn’t sure if there was an alternative to the acid-based colorants. Acids work GREAT, but they aren’t the most environmentally friendly of products. And, there are certain challenges to staining indoors (like ruining your paint, millwork, etc).
So, without further delay, I offer you the alternative: SoyCrete concrete stain. Non toxic, earth friendly. The jury is still out on the effectiveness, but the photos are relatively compelling (why don’t these companies hire REAL photographers to document their products?!?!?!? Ugh)

Those are the same people that say “you have to see it in real life, our pictures don’t do it justice”

I tried and tried to get this product to work. Spent a bunch of money trying to get it to work too.

Shoot – I’m sorry to hear it didn’t work for you. I’d love to hear other feedback and if other readers were more successful.

I used soycrete in my home. I ground the original surface down and then applied the soycrete using a faux finish technique with tile sponges. It turned out great and I came out under budget. I’m not sure what homemaker did wrong but the product worked great for me!

Hi Drew, how did you ground your surface down? thanks… Do you think this would work outside on concrete patio blocks?
